School of Agricultural Economics and Business Studies (COEBS) has been working in a collaborative project on Policy Prioritization through Value Chain (PPVC): Cassava and Sunflower with Bureau for Food and Agricultural Policy (BFAP). This time around the study aims at updating information on sunflower value chain in order to assess the effect of the recent policy reforms in the chain.

The survey was conducted in four regions: Dodoma, Dar es Salaam, Singida and Shinyanga. The validation used the field survey method for the collection of qualitative and quantitative cross-sectional information using observation, Key Informants Interviews (KIIs) and individual interviews. It included interviewing key sunflower value chain actors. These were government officials, processors associations, aggregators, traders, and processors. Additionally, a market survey in supermarkets, wholesale, and retail points was conducted.
