Dr. Silver John Hokororo is a Lecturer in the Department of Business Management (DBM) atCollege of Economics and Business Studies(COEBS) of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Morogoro in Tanzania. He Hold a PhD in Business Administration majoring in Human Resource Management, at University of Dar es salaam Business School (UDBS) of University of Dar Es salaam (UDSM) in Tanzania.
His PhD work on Determinants of Faculty Retention in Universities in Tanzanian Context is fully sponsored by World Bank’s Science and Technology Higher Education Project (STHEP) through SUA. He holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) of University of Dar es salaam, and Bachelor in Agriculture General of SUA.
Prior to joining SUA, He has been an Administrative Officer in Regional Secretariat at Mtwara, where he had vast experience in working with public services as Administrator and Human Resource Practitioner and was involved in a broad government intervention in planning based on Opportunities and Obstacles to Development (O & OD)at village and district levels. Mr. Hokororo as an instructorteaches Human Resource management and Organizational Behaviour subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and Agribusiness Skills at undergraduate level, and supervises undergraduate students in the special projects at SUA.
He has been involved in some research projects such as “Tanzania Gender Attitudes towards boys and girls; Views from Parents” conducted by SUA in collaboration with International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), and some Consultancy work such as Tanzania Agriculture Investment Mapping (TANAIM), commissioned to UDSM by Billy and Melinda Gates Foundation. He had also been a resource person in the In-Country Course onEnterprise Development, targeting small scale entrepreneurs from Morogoro Municipal Wards, sponsored by the African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD), Tanzania Country Office. His primary research interests are in the fields of employee attitudes, and enterprise performance.
