Dr. Zena Mpenda, CoEBS Researcher, Shares Insights at Kilimo Roundtable

The Kilimo Roundtable is a platform dedicated to fostering sustainable agriculture in Tanzania and East Africa through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and capacity building. On August 6, 2024, the platform convened stakeholders for a gala dinner in Dodoma. The event brought together a diverse group of participants from across the agricultural value chain, including investors, producers, media outlets, financial institutions, development partners, mobile network operators, technology providers, and government ministries.

The event’s distinguished guest was the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Hon. David Silinde. In attendance were representatives from various government parastatals such as the Tanzania Fertiliser Regulatory Authority (TFRA), Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI), and the Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania (SAGCOT), as well as fertiliser traders like METL, GSM Tanzania, and COP Tanzania, agro dealers, and AMCOS.

Dr. Zena Mpenda from the College of Economics and Business Studies (CoEBS) was also a panelist at the event. She discussed the prioritisation of the sunflower value chain and its impact on increasing gross margins.
