Dr. Magomba is an Agricultural Economist with specialty in rural urban migration and livelihoods. He has 12 years of experience in teaching, research and consultancy. He have been working with different research projects such as IFPRI in analyzing the agricultural productivity and gender and nutrition effects of small-scale irrigation in various Feed the Future sites of Tanzania. As a research team of joint project funded by USAID and the AgCenter of the Columbia University, he contributed to the economic analysis in evaluating the effect of site-specific soil information on farmer input choices and the relationship between soil quality and poverty.
He is a member of the Agricultural Policy Research in Africa (APRA), contributed to the high-quality evidence to inform policy on future agricultural commercialization options and investments in Sub-Saharan Africa. This is done by examining how African farmers engage with commercial agriculture, from production to processing and marketing, and the effects these pathways have on rural groups, particularly women and young people. Hence made him to gain relevant knowledge by working with a multidisciplinary professions and researchers in areas of value chain, nutrition, gender and women empowerment. He is currently serve as Chairperson of CoEBS Postgraduate Studies Committee. He is also a reviewer of the AgriFoSe programme 2030 (based at Lund University – Sweden).
